Gargling Solution

This recipe for a singer's gargling solution was passed on to me by my lovely friend Kat, and is a god send for any singers out there who find themselves with a cold or an otherwise yucky throat at the least opportune time.
1/2 cup very warm water (not quite boiling, not hot enough to burn you)
1/4 tsp of each of the following ingredients:
salt, baking soda, liquid glycerine (found over the counter at most stores)

Just remember it's a gargling solution and not meant to be ingested, as the glycerin is mildly toxic.
And for those of you who want to know WHY this works --
Water soothes chords, salt cleans, baking soda helps kill potential virus, and glycerine (which makes up hand lotions) coats chords lightly and safely to keep the salt/soda in and other things out.
